Residency Notice

Dear Mesa Arizona,

I have a concern. I moved here in June of this year with high hopes, an adventurous spirit, and the determination to enjoy another move. I was willing to look past the lack of greenery, trees and the hot hot hot summer that lay ahead. I feel as if I have done my best. I enjoyed the summer thoroughly by laying out in the hot sun, swimming in the pool, tubing down the river and drinking cactus lemonade. I even watched my stickers on my car begin to fade in color and slowly begin to curl upward from the sun.

As a concerned citizen I hereby voice my opinion on the matter. It is now the middle of October. Yesterday, as we reached record breaking temperature of 101 degrees I realized that around the world people are pulling out and USING their fall/winter clothing.

I am officially giving you my two months notice. I am packing my bag full of winter clothing and heading up north where I will enjoy "Jack Frost nipping at my nose".

This move needs to occur before my husband and I end up like this:

Two Down!

Today, Josh started his third clinical rotation at Health South in Glendale, Az. I think the best part of his day was finding out he gets FREE lunch every day (buffet style) and he got a free shirt. It's kind of big but I guess after free buffet lunches he is gonna need it just a bit bigger ;)

OH, SAY CAN YOU SEE!

One of my favorite places I got to visit on my "history" trip back east was Fort McHenry.

After the British bombed this Baltimore fort the only thing the British could see was our American Flag. Major George Armistead, a commanding officer, desired "to have a flag so large that the British will have no difficulty in seeing it from a distance."

This is the place where F. Scott Key a young poet wrote the star-spangled banner.

ONE HUNDRED & NINETY-FIVE YRS. AGO TODAY.

My parents are standing in the exact spot where a British bomb hit on Sept. 13th. As we were reading the plaque I looked down at my watch and realized that if it had been the actual year of 1812 in one hour I would be blown apart (to put it bluntly).

To top it all off we got a little musical performance. Actually, these boys were awesome and knew a ton about our history.

Colossal Cave

I am so bored right now! Jay left me to go to D.C. and march on the White House on Saturday with her parents. She will be gone until Friday, so I am here alone for the whole week. I asked Jay what I should do while she was gone and she gave me a list. She said if I got really bored I could blog about our trip south to Tucson, AZ. We went down there last week to visit the Colossal cave. It is a "dead cave" just outside of Tucson. It was really cool. The cave stays around 70 degrees year round. We saw some cool stalactites and stalagmites (do you guys know how to remember which one is which? A stalactite hangs on tight to the ceiling while a stalagmite might trip you if you don't watch out!!), bats, watched an older gentleman hit his head on a stalactite and then listen to his wife the rest of the time warn him of every hanging rock (that was funny, but the even funnier thing was when she put her hand in bat pooh!). This was our tour guide. He really knew his stuff!

I thought that this was funny. Instead of "Stop" their signs said "Whoa."

Soccer: Mexicano Style

My husband LOVES soccer! He loves soccer so much he joined a hispanic league out here. He got invited to play on this team by a friend he met, they are the only white boys in the WHOLE league. They are really easy to pick out. I love going to all his games. It is fun to watch the games, but it is also interesting to watch the sidelines as well. It is a whole different culutre, they bring their whole families to the games and everyone really gets into the games.

Friday night they got into the game just a little too much. I was sitting on the side lines talking to a friend and the next thing I knew two soccer guys went flying by me followed by the rest of the team and everyone was throwing punches. Women were getting in there trying to stop the fight. The fight went onto the field next to us, stopping that game as well.

The referees decided to end the game. They tied 2-2. We ended up hurrying to get out of there. As we were, we saw the cops driving in!! LOCO!!

Dobbins Lookout

Last weekend we took a late night drive up to South Mountain to go to Dobbins Lookout. Dobbins Lookout is the highest point in South Mountain Park and gives you an excellent view of the valley. Later that evening as we tried to get into our car we set the car alarm off. It was totally embarrassing and probably was a huge mood stopper for many couples if you know what I mean. ;)
