This Month

TO ME THESE ARE THINGS TO BE GRATEFUL FOR

This months Ensign.

I always try to "read" the ensigns every month. Some months are better than others. This month, however, I really studied the magazine. It was both inspirational and comforting. The articles, in large, deal with trials. If you have not read it yet, I strongly encourage you to pull it on out, open your heart and mind and allow yourself to be taught by the spirit. You WILL feel the Lords love for you.

Running.

As many of you know, I have not been able to run as much as I have been blessed to in the past. I LOVE running! I don't know what to do with myself when I am not out running. This past year (last 4 months in particular) have been difficult as I have had to cut down my running. Ok. So I didn't really do my best of cutting down my running as this picture on the left shows. While in pain, I ran the St. George Marathon. I really have had to put a lot of faith in the Lord as he has promised me I will be healed and be able to run again. It's been a humbling experience. This month, after months of protest, I finally went to the doctor. I am excited to know that the reason for my pain is due to a "cluster" of cysts growing on my meniscus. (um, yuck!) Even though, I am not running like I am use too, I am still grateful for the 5-6 miles I can squeeze in and endure during the week. I am also grateful for the pain because it means I am human. I have a body. It also means, that when I am healed (hopefully, after March 30th) I will be more grateful for my healthy knees and never take for granted what I am able to do with my body.

LDS Institute. (sorry, I have no picture)

I cannot even articulate words to express my gratitude for this program. Josh and I have been (seriously!) blessed to attend a Weber State LDS Institute class for "marrieds". It started in January and is only every other week. While attending we are being feed both spiritually and physically. Bonus! Thank you Daron and Lisa for inviting us. We someday hope to join you in your ranks of spirituality. :)

The Parents Basement. (only current picture I have of me in my parents basement)

Yes. I am 25 years old, married and I live in my parents basement. Mainly, it's been a nice little transitional place for us to store our holey, over used wallets (thank you las vegas and mesa apartment renting units). Josh and I have both had some medical bills to pay and if we did not have a "free of charge" basement well, Josh would still be walking around with a torn ACL, that is for sure.

My Nieces.

I love, love, love these two little bitty's. They are miniature teenagers. I am grateful to be living so close to them so we can party and make weird faces. They are pure joy. I'm excited for their little sisters arrival. Bring on the third diva. ;)

I also love, love, love Serena my third niece. She is a great "kick" dancer. Watch out for her and her moves. :)

And of Course, My Prince Charming.

He stole my attention over 8 yrs ago and he still continues to be my favorite eye candy. He IS my hearts delight.

Birthday Boy!

Hmmm...In honor of my husbands 26th day of birth we took a drive over to Boondocks here in Kaysville and played laser tag, arcade games and went bowling. The best part you ask? We acted (well, mostly Josh) like we were six years old instead of 26. :)

I have to admit...

UTAH STATE basketball games are the best! I'm sorry if that makes you feel bad but it's true!

I am not a true Aggie, in fact I am not even an Aggie. I have never paid one cent in support of this school however, I am married to a man who bleeds blue for Utah State and NOW I am proud of it. I went to my first basketball game last week and I fell in love (no, not with Bill as tempting as it was). The chants and cheers were fun and creative (I even did the cheer where you milk the udders- ugh! How embarrassing). I felt rude a couple of times but I quickly got over it. It was loud and crazy and I think I only sat in my chair during half time.

Congratulations Utah State on becoming WAC CHAMPS!

And even more important congratulations to Josh for graduating from Utah State almost three years ago. You've done good Mills. You've done good.

Strawberry Success!

My new calling in the ward is the YW camp directer! Wow! A little bit overwhelming for a girl who only went to one and a half of her own girls camp. Now looking back, I should have gone to more girls camps.

My first responsibility as camp director was to get the fund raiser underway. Our fundraiser this year was to make chocolate dipped strawberries. I had a blast. We all gathered together this morning (some earlier than others) and made the most beautiful chocolate strawberries I have ever seen. True, I haven't seen that many until today but I still stake my claim on the most beautiful chocolate strawberries ever created. My YW rock. Our Strawberries are beautiful and we are gonna have a rockin' fun time at girls camp this year!

Happy 4th... Clinical!

January 25th was the first day for Josh's last clinical! Josh has to work four 10's but more like three 10's and one 14 hour day. He loves where he is working except for the fact that he has to wear a dress shirt and tie every day! He now looks forward to Fridays when he only has to wear a dress shirt. I must admit it is quite a change to see him all dressed up. A girl could get use to this. :)
Now begins the countdown to MAY 7th! Graduation day!! Joshua Mills, DPT here you come!

Surgery

Things I have learned about my husband during his surgery:
1) It would appear from below picture that he enjoys surgery or being drugged up.
2) When on pain medication Josh forgets that he is an American and talks only (and a lot) in a Australian/English/Scottish accent.
3) Josh made a bold declaration that he was going to be a biker...3 minutes later and after burning 4 calories he made another bold declaration: "I need a percocet!" I guess the tour de France will have to wait.

4) Did I mention he talked a lot? Even in his sleep. Late one night/morning he woke me up by putting on a theatrical version of 'Silence of the Lambs'. Lucky for me he was Hannibal Lecter and I was Clarice! Did I mention he was asleep? The next day I told him no more pain medication.
5) He has a high tolerance for pain -except-when icing his knee. He hates cold.
6) He is amazing! Well, I already knew that but it always makes the list .
