HOPE AT LAST!

This morning Josh and I were up and out of the apartment at 5:00am! There was a special temple session at 5:30 am for leaders in the ward/stake that we were invited to attend. What we discovered when we went outside was HOPE! It was 78 degrees!!! 78 degrees is hope for a "cooler" future. However, by noon it is now back up to 100 degrees. Which is also, a nice break from 110-115 degrees.


On a lighter note. I was completely impressed with Josh waking up so early! As we left the apartment he grabbed his sunglasses, put them on, opened the door and then exclaimed in horror, "It's not even light out yet!" He hasn't seen the crack of dawn in awhile. :) Currently, as I am typing this he is taking a nap on the couch. Waking up at 4:45am is much too exhausting.

D-Backs Game

On Friday we went to our first MLB game. It was the Diamondbacks vs the Pirates. The D-backs got their butts kicked, but it was still a fun game. The people behind us were heckling the left outfielder, which was kind of funny!

We did get a few window shades though. That will help here in AZ!

National Day of the Cowboy

Goldfield, a small ghost town near Apache Junction, celebrated National Day of the Cowboy this weekend. It was a lot of FREE fun! They had a moustache and beard contest, a live shootout, a cowgirl fashion show (in which Josh went all googlie eyed over), snakes and reptiles show, cactus lemonade, and much more.

Here are two contestants in the moustache contest. The guy on the left won it. His was really cool. Josh totally wishes he could grow facial hair like that.

Josh had fun imagining he was riding in the coal mine cart. It reminded him of the Indian Jones movie.

Marshall and Josh couldn't resist going to the bordello. Look who is in the lead? I can understand why Marshall wanted to go up there, but I thought my man was happily married! :)

The term "being in the dog house" came to mind. One of the bordello workers saw the boys in the cage and told me to throw away the key! I totally agree!!

Wicked Weekend

This last weekend we had another really fun time. Jaimie's parents, Brett, Stephanie and the kids, Dave & Kirsten, Shannon, my parents, and Mikayla came down for the weekend. We went to Bucca di Beppo, ordered way too much food, swam in the pool, enjoyed the AZ HEAT, went to the play Wicked and had a good time. We tried to recreate the scene from Lady and the Tramp.

This was my first time seeing the play. I really liked it. I thought that it was really funny and it really makes you think of the Wizard of Oz from a different perspective. I really want to rent that movie and watch it again.

Wicked was not the reason for both of our families coming down to AZ. The real reason why everyone came down was to see Jaimie graduate. It took a lot of persuasion to get her to walk, but we did it! I am so proud of all of the hard work that she has put into school. She works full-time, is a great wife, and has sacrificed so much to get through school. Her major was Human Services/Management. I just wanted to let her know how proud I am and how much I love her.

ReAdY oR nOt! Here comes my HuSbAnD!! My husband starts his second clinical rotation today at St. Joseph's hospital!!

Jam Packed Weekend

This last weekend we had a jammed pack weekend! On Friday morning we flew up to Utah. One of the perks of having a family member work at the airport is employee discount tickets. Friday was full of helping Brett and Stephanie pack up some of their things for their move, trying a Hawaii icee, going to Robintino's for dinner, and roasting marshmallows, starbursts, and cinnamon bears in the fire.
On Saturday we went to the Jordan River temple because Josh's cousin Luke took his endowments out. He is leaving on his mission to Brazil in a month! After the session, we went to Famous Dave's for lunch. We had some really good grub this weekend!! On Saturday night we went to the Real Salt Lake soccer game with some friends and family. It was a really fun game. Real won one to zero. We all felt like minorities at the stadium. Real was playing against a team from Mexico. It was a pretty intense game. The night ended with Pace's ice cream and an amazing fireworks show at Farmington!
We rode the tracks to the game. It was Stephanie's first time riding the tracks.

The weekend ended with us driving home. Josh's car was up in Utah getting the bumper fixed. We had the PRIVILEGE of driving it home. The big problem with Josh's car is that it doesn't have air conditioning. It got really hot it that car!! The drive was really pretty though. We drove by Bryce Canyon, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, through Flagstaff and Page.

We did make a pit stop at the Glen Canyon Dam. It was really pretty.

Eleven hours later we arrived back at home in AZ. It was a jammed pack weekend, but we had a lot of fun!!

WE LOVE VISITORS!

We are always telling people to come visit us. There are a ton of benefits to visiting us, including, but not limited to: we are a ton of fun, we usually do really fun things, and visitors have a place to stay (for free) with the most comfortable air mattress to sleep on. Well, my little brother finally took me up on this offer last Tuesday. I was excited to have him come stay the night before he went on the trail for Anasazi. I picked him up from the airport and after we caught up he informed me that he wanted to go hang out with some of the people who were going on the trail with him in the morning. I handed him a spare key to the apartment and went to bed.

At 1:30 in the morning I woke up because my globe light was on. It is one of those lights that you have to touch and the light will come on. As of lately it has decided to become possessed and turn on whenever it wants to. I got up to turn it off and realized my little brother was not back yet. I looked at my phone and had missed two texts and three phone calls from him! Come to find out I had locked him out!! My apartment has a bottom lock and then a dead bolt, which even if you have a key, you cannot unlock!!!

We hope that this story does not thwart others from visiting. We have learned our lesson. Don't lock your guests out!! We had to learn this lesson the hard way, but we learned it.
